Simons Historically Black Colleges and Universities Faculty Fellowship

About this program

The Simons Foundation, funded by Simons Foundation International, will provide up to five accredited HBCU institutions with $1.6 million over five years to support junior faculty fellowships in mathematics, physics, and ecology and evolutionary biology. Funding provides a 50% teaching buyout, protected research time, and support for research, student engagement, mentoring, and federal grant development. Eligible institutions must nominate up to four current or newly recruited junior tenure-track faculty, each with at least one relevant peer-reviewed publication or clear evidence of an active research program and a senior faculty mentor. Letters of intent are due by noon Eastern on November 12, 2026; invited full applications are due February 8, 2027.
