About this program
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, supported by the Slifka Foundation, offers one one-year interdisciplinary fellowship for 2027–2028 combining art-historical research with curatorial, conservation, and scientific training on either French posters or European manuscript illumination. Fellows receive a $53,000 junior or $63,000 senior stipend, up to $6,000 for research travel, and health-insurance support. PhD candidates and early-career postdoctoral scholars are eligible, with junior status determined at application and senior status requiring a PhD by submission; international applicants may apply with appropriate U.S. work authorization. Applications, including a statement of interest, work and travel plans, CV, recommendations, and required transcripts for junior applicants, are due October 15, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET.
