The Simons Foundation’s Mathematics and Physical Sciences division invites applications for three-year Solar Radiation Management grants supporting fundamental research on environmentally benign materials, laboratory characterization, atmospheric turbulence, and climate modeling related to SAI, MCB, and CCT. Awards provide up to $1.5 million, including indirect costs, for projects beginning August 1, 2027; social science research and in-situ aerosol-release field experiments are outside the program’s scope. Applications may include up to three PIs from eligible U.S. or international nonprofit, academic, research, or national laboratory institutions, excluding institutions in China and Hong Kong; university PIs must hold tenure-track or equivalent positions in Ph.D.-granting departments. The LOI is due October 6, 2026, at noon Eastern, with invited full proposals due February 17, 2027.
