Sonia Kovalevsky Lecture

About this program

The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) jointly offer the annual Sonia Kovalevsky Lecture to recognize significant contributions to applied or computational mathematics that highlight women’s achievements in the field. The honoree presents the lecture at the SIAM Annual Meeting and receives a $2,000 prize, honorary certificate, and AWM Newsletter feature. Nominees may come from the scientific or engineering community, and nominators of any gender—including self-nominators—are eligible; AWM membership is not required. Nominations, accepted August 1–September 15, must include a nomination letter, approximately 100-word citation, and a curriculum vitae of no more than three pages; self-nominations require an additional support letter.
