SPS-AAPT-ALPhA Undergraduate Award for Outstanding Laboratory Development

About this program

The Society of Physics Students (SPS), American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), and Advanced Laboratory Physics Association (ALPhA) offer this award to recognize undergraduate students or teams that develop an advanced laboratory experiment for physics courses beyond the first year. The award includes student and faculty travel support, student and departmental honoraria, and an invitation to present at the summer national AAPT meeting; honorable mentions may receive SPS travel support. Applicants must be SPS members, current undergraduates or graduates within the past academic year, and affiliated with an SPS chapter in good standing. Projects must demonstrate exceptional contributions to a laboratory experiment that is new, substantially modified, or original and suitable for incorporation into the institution’s advanced laboratory curriculum; applications, limited to two per chapter, require an adviser letter, enrollment confirmation, and a manuscript, with a November 15 deadline.
