SSRC-JF Next Gen Japan Study Tour Grants

Supported by the Japan Foundation, the Social Science Research Council offers institutional grants of up to $32,500 to U.S. colleges and universities for immersive Japan study tours serving undergraduate and master’s students. Funds support eligible travel, accommodations, transportation, insurance, and limited curricular activities for tours beginning January 16–September 30, 2027; applications are due November 1, 2026. Eligible applicants are U.S.-based institutions with 501(c)(3) or qualifying tax-exempt status, with a faculty project director who accompanies at least five students on a minimum five-day, course-related tour. Tours must include academic lectures and culturally relevant site visits, and participating students supported by the grant must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
