About this program
The West Virginia Culture Center’s State Development Grant, funded through legislative Lottery Funds, supports brick-and-mortar preservation and archaeological development projects at properties listed individually on the National Register of Historic Places or contributing to a listed historic district. Eligible work includes preservation, protection, compatible rehabilitation, restoration, and stabilization of historic properties. Applicants may include government agencies, nonprofits, private owners, for-profit organizations, educational institutions, and Certified Local Governments; individuals must own, lease with permission, or be committed to purchasing the property. Projects require a 50/50 match, with at least half of the applicant’s contribution in cash, and applications are due September 30 at 11:30 p.m. (FY27).
