Steve Caritis Endowed Obstetrics Research Fund for Residents and Fellows

Magee-Womens Research Institute (Magee-Womens Hospital Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences) offers the Steve Caritis Endowed Obstetrics Research Fund to support trainee-led obstetrics research, awarding variable annual grants from endowment income for basic, translational, clinical, education, or quality-improvement projects. Applications are due annually by April 15, with award notifications by June 1 and funds available July 1; proposals are evaluated on mentor experience, clinical relevance, likelihood of publication, and feasibility within one to two years. Eligible applicants are Magee MFM fellows, OB/GYN residents, and departmental subspecialty fellows who must have a committed University of Pittsburgh faculty mentor and submit an application form, detailed proposal, and mentor letter. Funds may be used only for research costs (e.g., supplies, recruitment, data analysis), IRB approval must be obtained as needed, and one-year no-cost extensions or reapplication are permitted if additional time or support is required.
