Student Development Research Awards (SDRA)

About this program

KY INBRE offers Student Development Research Awards of up to $10,000 in direct costs for one year to support undergraduate students conducting faculty-mentored biomedical, clinical, behavioral, or social sciences research at their home institutions. At least 60% of the award must support student salaries, with remaining funds available for research expenses and limited student conference travel. Eligible applicants are undergraduate students working with tenured or tenure-track faculty at Kentucky colleges and universities on research aligned with the NIH mission; University of Louisville and University of Kentucky faculty are ineligible, and mentors may receive only one award annually. Letters of intent are due March 12, 2027, and complete proposals are due March 29, 2027; students and mentors must be registered in eRA Commons and submit NIH biosketches and required regulatory approvals.
