Student Map and Poster Competition

About this program

The North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS) invites students to display maps, cartographic research posters, and related displays in the NACIS 2026 Map Gallery and to compete in two categories—cartographic design and cartographic research—with winners chosen by attendee ballot; two $500 prizes (one per category, if merited), honorable mentions, and award certificates will be given. Applicants must have been enrolled in a certificate, undergraduate, or graduate/post‑graduate program during the 2025–2026 academic year, may be from any country, and must submit original work created during that academic year (previous first‑prize winners in a category are ineligible to win again). There is no entry fee; registration is via the NACIS registration form and submissions must meet size and file requirements (print posters max 48"×48"; digital images ≥300 dpi, ≤20 MB, PNG/PDF/JPEG); deadline is August 31, 2026 (midnight EDT).
