About this program

The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) administers a wide range of research projects and Centers—typically supported by government agencies and private foundations—to fund collaborative economic research, host capstone conferences, and disseminate findings through the NBER working paper series. Projects vary from large, centrally directed initiatives to smaller investigator‑led studies and may produce conference proceedings or special journal issues. All projects must be led by an NBER affiliate, though project leaders frequently invite non‑affiliated researchers to contribute; NBER provides grant administration, IRB oversight, data management, and computational support for proposal development and project management.
