Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education Program - Access denied

About this program

UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (UC SAREP) at UC ANR is funding one-year (May 1, 2026–April 30, 2027) cost-reimbursable projects that build capacity for adaptive, resilient, and environmentally regenerative California farming and food systems. Projects must fall under Priority Area 1 (support for farmers, ranchers, and land stewards to pilot regenerative production, fair labor, diversified marketing, and networking) or Priority Area 2 (expand access to healthy, sustainably produced culturally appropriate foods, worker wellbeing, and strengthened producer–consumer/supply-chain connections); awards include Planning and Education & Outreach grants up to $10,000, Applied Research I up to $10,000, and one Applied Research II up to $20,000 (equipment allowed with individual items ≤ $5,000). Eligible applicants are California-based farms/food businesses (demonstrating broader benefit), non-profits, state/local government agencies, Tribal governments, and California public/private higher-education institutions (UC SAREP statewide staff are ineligible; specified county-based UC staff are eligible). Applicants must demonstrate meaningful stakeholder collaboration, include required proposal sections and attachments (narrative limited to 5 single‑spaced pages), submit via Google Forms, and apply by January 14, 2026, 5:00 pm PST; small NGOs, Tribal governments, and farm/food businesses may include up to 10% indirect costs.
