Targets to Therapies: Mitochondrial Target Validation

The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Targets to Therapies: Mitochondrial Target Validation program supports research advancing mitochondrial targets toward therapeutic decision points in Parkinson’s disease. Funding may support target modulation in models, validation using patient samples, mechanism-of-action studies, biomarker development, and biological safety assessment. Proposals must address a defined target or mechanism and generate reproducible, translatable evidence relevant to Parkinson’s disease; broad discovery and therapeutic development not directly tied to target validation are excluded. Applicants must submit a pre-proposal by May 27, 2026, with full proposals accepted by invitation only, and funded research outputs must comply with MJFF’s Open Science Policy.
