About this program
The American Economic Association and its Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession offer the annual Andrew Brimmer Undergraduate Essay Prize, which awards $1,000 for an essay addressing the economic well-being of Black Americans. Applicants must be undergraduate students at U.S.-based institutions majoring in economics, political science, public policy, or a related field. Essays must be 750 words or fewer, accompanied by a department chair’s endorsement letter, and limited to one submission per department; applications are due by 5 p.m. ET on the second Friday of October.
