The Carl Gans Award

About this program

The Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology’s Division of Comparative Biomechanics offers the Carl Gans Awards annually to recognize an outstanding young investigator and a significant contribution to the comparative biomechanics literature published within the preceding five calendar years. Recipients receive a plaque or certificate, and the young investigator presents a featured lecture at the SICB Annual Meeting; travel reimbursement or supplemental research support may be available subject to funds. Candidates must be SICB members and may apply or be nominated; young investigator nominees must have completed their doctorate within the past seven years. Nominations are due September 10 annually, and candidates may be nominated no more than three times.
