About this program

The Comitas Institute for Anthropological Study and the Society for Applied Anthropology offer two $5,000 prizes recognizing ethnographic research that advances public knowledge and engagement through an impactful publication or multimedia work. Applicants may be academic or independent researchers at any career stage, and international submissions are welcome; eligible works must be authored or jointly created by the applicant and first published within two years before the October 15 deadline. Applications require a CV, a specified statement addressing the project, intellectual merit, broader impact, and social relevance, the public-facing work, and supporting evidence of public engagement.
