The Mikko Luke Immonen Memorial Fellowship in African Archaeology

The Archaeological Institute of America offers the Mikko Luke Immonen Memorial Fellowship in African Archaeology, providing up to $10,000 for archaeological research and fieldwork conducted on the African continent by graduate students or postdoctoral fellows. Applicants must be affiliated with an accredited graduate-level or postdoctoral program in archaeology or a related discipline and demonstrate active or planned research in Africa. Applicants from outside Africa must hold current AIA Graduate or Professional membership, while African applicants must join if selected; required permits must be secured before funds are disbursed. Applications, including references and transcripts when applicable, must be submitted in English by November 1, 2026.
