Truman Library Institute Research Grants

About this program

The Truman Library Institute offers Research Grants of up to $2,500, awarded twice annually, to offset lodging, meals, and travel costs for researchers conducting work at the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum. The spring cycle also includes the $2,500 John K. Hulston Scholarship for researchers visiting multiple repositories, including the Truman Library. Applicants must submit an application, a maximum three-page CV, a five-page project description, targeted collection and box information, and two letters of reference; Hulston applicants must also provide a detailed multi-repository budget. Deadlines are October 1, 2026, and April 1, 2027, with the Hulston Scholarship due April 1 annually.
