Uma Lele Mentor Fellowship Award

About this program

The AAEA Trust’s Uma Lele Mentor Fellowship Award provides up to $5,000 to support travel and related expenses for an early-career scholar and distinguished mentor collaborating on high-quality, policy-oriented research addressing food insecurity and environmental pressures in a developing country. Applicants must be professional economists who are citizens of and reside in a World Bank low-income or lower-middle-income country, or students completing their degree and planning to reside in such a country by the end of 2026; mentors may be based anywhere but must be AAEA members. Applications must include a mentorship plan, CV, research proposal, institutional recommendation, mentor’s collaboration letter, and budget, and are due October 12, 2026.
