Uma Lele Mentor Fellowship Award for Women

The Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Trust offers the Uma Lele Mentor Fellowship Award for Women to support research collaboration and mentorship between early-career women agricultural, resource, and environmental economists and AAEA-member mentors. The award provides up to $5,000—up to $4,500 for the scholar and $500 for the mentor—for travel, meeting participation, and fellowship-related expenses, with registration and membership fees waived. Eligible applicants must be within one year of earning a relevant PhD or within five years of completion and be citizens and residents of low- or lower-middle-income countries; near-completion PhD students intending to reside in such a country may also apply. Applications require a CV, research proposal, institutional recommendation, mentor information or intent letter, and budget, and are due October 12, 2026.
