URA Visiting Scholars Program

About this program

The Universities Research Association (URA) Visiting Scholars Program supports faculty, research scientists, postdocs, and graduate students from URA-member universities to conduct research or participate in approved activities at Fermilab for periods ranging from short visits to one year. Awards may provide travel and local lodging for short visits or salary support and round-trip travel for extended stays, up to $50,000 per individual over a lifetime. Applicants must be affiliated with a URA-member institution and propose work relevant to Fermilab’s mission; faculty and postdocs in the terminal year of their appointments are ineligible. Applications require a research proposal, budget, biosketch, waiver of indirect costs, and required Fermilab and institutional letters of support; the Fall 2026 deadline is August 31, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
