VCS-Dr. Gordon Theilen Resident Research Grant

About this program

The Veterinary Cancer Society (VCS) offers the VCS‑Dr. Gordon Theilen Resident Research Grant to support hypothesis‑driven, prospective veterinary or comparative oncology studies designed for completion in approximately one year. Since 2016 the program has awarded 26 grants totaling $483,986 to residents at veterinary schools across the United States and Canada. Applicants must be residents in AVMA‑approved training programs, be current VCS members for the duration of the project, and may propose clinical or basic research in veterinary or comparative oncology. Recipients must complete the project within one year and present results at a VCS Annual Conference; 2026–27 key dates are application announcement July 7, 2026, deadline September 4, 2026, award notices November 13, 2026, and funding distributed by January 11, 2027.
