VESS Resident Research Award – Health Services Research (HSR) – 2027

About this program

Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Society (VESS) offers a single $20,000 Resident Research Award in Health Services Research to support vascular surgery residents initiating projects during protected academic development time with the aim of advancing toward extramural funding; the award is presented at the VESS Annual Winter Meeting. Eligible applicants must be trainees in an accredited general or integrated vascular surgery residency and must identify a VESS Active Member as the project’s dedicated research mentor, sponsor, or collaborative investigator. Applications (due October 1, 2026) must be submitted as a single PDF and include an introductory letter (including a statement that the applicant has no similar society funding and an academic development plan), a VESS Member letter confirming protected research time, NIH biosketches, a 7-page grant proposal, budget with justification, and supporting materials per NIH formatting. Award funds must be used for direct research costs only (no salaries/overhead; travel to present limited to $1,000), research completed within 12 months, and a summary report and presentation at the following VESS Winter Meeting are required.
