Virginia Wine Board Grants

About this program

The Virginia Wine Board, part of Virginia’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, awards competitive grants (FY26–27 funded ~ $400,000) to support research, education and marketing projects that advance Virginia wine and cider production and industry development. Funding includes investigator-driven research/education projects (performance period June 1–May 31) and 1:1 matching marketing grants for novel regional marketing initiatives; prior awards have supported events, media/trade tastings and regional collaborations. Applicants must propose projects aligned with the Virginia Wine Vision that benefit Commonwealth vineyards and wineries; matching marketing grants require at least three financially participating parties and follow a spring application cycle (marketing awards run July 1–May 30).
