Visitor Training Program (VTP)

About this program

The American Society of Hematology (ASH) offers the Visitor Training Program (VTP) to build hematology capacity in low‑ and middle‑income countries by funding up to 12 weeks of supervised clinical or laboratory training with an ASH‑member mentor; the award covers visa fees, round‑trip airfare, accommodation, and daily living expenses. The 2027 VTP application is open—applications available 6 April 2026, due 5 October 2026, with notifications in July 2027. Eligible applicants are hematologists or hematology‑related health professionals permanently employed at a hospital, clinic, or laboratory in a World Bank–defined low‑ or middle‑income country (medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees are not eligible). Applicants must secure an ASH‑member host mentor, propose training that addresses a specific hematology need that can be implemented at their home institution (necessary equipment/supplies must be available), and individual research projects are not considered; ASH membership is not required for applicants.
