About this program

HEI's Walter A. Rosenblith New Investigator Award (RFA 25-2) is a career-development research grant supporting outstanding early-career investigators to conduct original research on the health effects of air pollution, with priority for projects aligned with HEI’s 2025–2030 Strategic Research Plan (evolving transportation, pollutant mixtures, air toxics); awards provide up to $600,000 total costs for up to 3 years, with indirect costs capped at 30% of direct costs and a required PI commitment of at least 25% effort. Funds may support the applicant’s salary, junior personnel, consultants, supplies and equipment (but not co-investigator or mentor salaries); applicants must name a laboratory QA manager and comply with HEI QA/QC and Data Access policies.
