Warren Alpert Distinguished Scholar Fellowship Award in Neuroscience

About this program

The Warren Alpert Foundation’s Distinguished Scholar Awards in Neuroscience support exceptional postdoctoral scientists transitioning to independent faculty careers and laboratory leadership. Each recipient’s institution receives $200,000 annually for two years for salary, laboratory, and related expenses, with indirect costs of up to 15% of direct costs. Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or both; conduct neuroscience research at a U.S. medical school, research institute, or academic institution; and have three to six years of postdoctoral experience by July 1, 2027. Candidates require nomination by a dean or equivalent senior institutional leader, a minimum 75% effort commitment, three recommendation letters, and electronic submission by November 1, 2026; only one candidate per institution may apply.
