Washington State Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth

About this program

The Washington State Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth, supported by current and former Washington governors and funded by proceeds from the annual Governors’ Cup golf tournament, provides scholarships to help young people from foster care pursue undergraduate degrees at Washington colleges and universities. Approximately 30–40 new scholars are selected each year, receiving awards of $2,000–$4,000 depending on the institution, with the scholarship renewable for up to five years. Eligible applicants are former foster youth planning to enroll full time at a Washington state college or university and must maintain satisfactory academic progress each year to retain funding.
