About this program

WHOI Sea Grant offers Program Development Funds of typically $1,000–$5,000 for small research, proof-of-concept, extension, education, communications, travel, graduate support, and workshop or conference projects that advance its strategic goals. Awards are made on a rolling basis, with decisions generally occurring twice annually, and are contingent on federal appropriations. Applicants must be based at a Massachusetts institution and demonstrate alignment with WHOI Sea Grant priorities, measurable benefit to Massachusetts, and potential to leverage additional funding or partnerships. Applications require the program development form and a two-page resume for the principal investigator, submitted electronically to WHOI Sea Grant.
