William Appleman Williams Emerging Scholar Research Grants

About this program

The Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR) offers annual William Appleman Williams Emerging Scholar Research Grants of up to $2,000 to support domestic or international travel for research in U.S. foreign relations, particularly projects leading to a scholar’s first monograph. Applicants must be SHAFR members, be within six years of receiving the PhD, and submit a self-nomination by October 15. Awardees must provide a brief report on use of the funds within eight months of receipt.
