About this program

Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation administers the William J. & Margery S. Barrett Fund to provide grants that improve quality of life for residents of Adams, Cheshire and Savoy, MA, supporting projects, programs, capital improvements and general operating support across arts and culture, education, environment, and health and social services with emphasis on low‑income and underserved adults and children. Award sizes vary and the Barrett Fund Committee may make a few larger, seminal awards; all grants normally require a one‑to‑one match (cash, services or in‑kind) unless modified by Berkshire Taconic. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, municipalities, community organizations, civic entities and public agencies serving those towns; educational applicants (nonprofits, teachers, students, parents) must provide a letter of support from the school principal or superintendent and are not eligible if they qualify for the ACE Partnership Fund. Applications are competitively reviewed for quality, impact, feasibility and equity (priority to projects serving underserved/marginalized communities and organizations with BIPOC leadership), outcome reporting is required, and applications are submitted via the Berkshire Taconic portal (deadline listed as 2026-10-15).
