Wings for Life Individual Grant

About this program

Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation, a private charity, funds basic and clinical research to improve outcomes after traumatic spinal cord injury through Individual Grants (salary support), Project Research Grants (full project funding), an AI Project Grant (in partnership with Microsoft offering Azure credits), and the Accelerated Translational Program (ATP) to advance clinical translation. Individual Grants cover salary for postdocs, PhD fellows or technicians; Project Grants fund personnel, equipment and consumables and now permit PIs/co‑PIs to request up to 20% of the project budget for salary support, with postdocs explicitly eligible to apply; the AI Grant supplements larger projects with in‑kind Microsoft support. Priority is given to projects with clear translational potential, relevance to mammalian models and human-validated mechanisms, and likely patient benefit; proposals solely focused on routine medical complications or purely on technology development are lower priority unless highly novel or tied to rehabilitation/plasticity. Applicants must submit an executive summary via the online portal (science.wingsforlife.com) prior to a full application—executive summaries are due Sept 1, 2026 for Individual and Project Grants and Nov 17, 2025 for the AI Grant (full applications by invitation); ATP proposals are accepted on a rolling basis by email.
