World Politics & Statecraft Fellowship

About this program

Smith Richardson Foundation’s World Politics and Statecraft Fellowship awards up to twenty $10,000 grants annually to support Ph.D. dissertation research on American foreign policy, international relations, international security, strategic studies, area studies, and diplomatic and military history, funding field work, archival research, and language training. The Foundation gives preference to projects that can directly inform U.S. policy debates rather than those focused chiefly on abstract theory or internal disciplinary questions. Eligible applicants are Ph.D. candidates conducting dissertation research in the specified fields; proposals must follow the Foundation’s template and be emailed to worldpolitics@srf.org. All application materials must be received by October 5, 2026 (no exceptions), and applicants will be notified by March 8, 2027.
