About this program

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) offers the ICAR fellowship to support research on understanding how ocean chemistry and planetary processes contribute to sustained habitability and detectable biosignatures, using Earth's past as a model for interpreting exoplanet observations. The interdisciplinary project combines geochemical, numerical, and remote sensing approaches to study biosignatures in both ancient Earth and exoplanet contexts. Eligibility is open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, foreign nationals eligible for J-1 visa status, and applicants with valid EAD cards and pending immigration forms. Selected fellows are expected to participate in astrobiology conferences using provided travel funds.
