2024 Credit Enhancement

About this program

The California State Treasurer’s Office offers $20 million in federally funded Credit Enhancement grants to improve charter schools’ access to private-sector and other nonfederal financing for acquiring, constructing, and renovating facilities. Grants may fully or partially fund debt service reserve accounts for bond transactions issued through the California School Finance Authority, reducing borrowing costs; matching funds are not required. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and public agencies supporting charter schools operating in California, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis. Award amounts depend on submissions and program review, and reserved funds generally must be used within six months of Authority approval.
