About this program
The California Public Utilities Commission’s 2026-27 Digital Divide Grant Program will award three grants totaling $200,000: one of $100,000 for a public school or district and two of up to $50,000 for nonprofit community-based organizations. Grants support holistic projects addressing broadband infrastructure, affordability, device access, and digital skills in underserved communities. Eligible nonprofit applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations in good standing with demonstrated digital-divide experience and a written partnership with a qualifying public school or district in an urban or rural small school district with at least 50% Free or Reduced Price Meal eligibility. Applications are due October 30, 2026; matching funds are not required, and awards are reimbursed with 10% retained until timely project completion.
