AAAS Newcomb Cleveland Prize

About this program

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), supported by The Fodor Family Trust, awards the Newcomb Cleveland Prize ($25,000 plus complimentary AAAS Annual Meeting registration and reimbursement for reasonable travel/hotel expenses) for an outstanding research article published in Science. Eligible papers are first-time publications of the authors' own work appearing between the first issue of June and the last issue of the following May and must present original research data, theory, or synthesis that constitutes a fundamental contribution to basic knowledge or a technical achievement of far‑reaching consequence. Readers of Science may nominate articles via an online form (April 15–June 30); self-nominations are not accepted, and final selection is made by a panel appointed by the Science editor-in-chief. AAAS encourages a diverse pool of nominations across disciplines, institution types, and geographic locations and is committed to equal opportunity.
