AABS Book Publication Subvention

About this program

The Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS) offers the Book Publication Subvention of up to $5,000 to support publication of scholarly English‑language books—individually authored monographs, edited volumes, and multi‑authored works—that make a substantial contribution to Baltic Studies; two awards are made annually on a rolling basis. Applications must be submitted by publishers (not authors); authors must be AABS regular or student members for the year of application and the immediately preceding year (exemptions possible), and priority is given to single‑author first monographs. Manuscripts should be contracted and peer reviewed (preferably production‑ready); the single‑PDF application must include a 500‑word significance statement, table of contents and one sample chapter, two impartial book reviews, the author’s CV, and a one‑page publisher overview with budget and timeline. Apply via the AABS online application form; awardees must acknowledge AABS in the book front matter, use funds within two years, provide an itemized report within one month of publication, and decisions are announced approximately 6–8 weeks after review.
