AACR-AstraZeneca Fellowship for Physician-Scientists in Digital Pathology and AI

About this program

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), in partnership with AstraZeneca, offers a $200,000, two-year fellowship beginning December 1, 2026, to support physician-scientists pursuing mentored research training in digital pathology, artificial intelligence, and computational pathology. Fellows will complete one year at an academic institution and one year with an AstraZeneca team, developing advanced methods for AI-driven cancer research and diagnostics. Applicants must hold a relevant medical degree, be enrolled in an accredited U.S. pathology residency or fellowship, have at least two years of protected research time and an appropriate mentor, and be authorized to work in the United States. Applicants must also maintain AACR membership in good standing and may not hold specified conflicting positions, degrees, or AACR grants; applications are due September 29, 2026.
