About this program

The Association of Clinical Pathologists (ACP) Research Fund Award 2026 offers three awards of up to £7,500 (total fund £22,500) to support ACP members conducting research in laboratory medicine/pathology or to subsidize living expenses while undertaking postgraduate qualifications; applications are accepted at any time and awards are made throughout the year. Funding covers small educational research projects (maximum £1,000 per year—includes living expenses up to £150/week for up to six weeks and consumables) or up to £7,500 for MSc/MMedSci/PhD study (with a £1,000 cap for bench fees/consumables); non‑consumable equipment, textbooks and library costs are ineligible. Applicants must be ACP Ordinary, Extraordinary or Trainee members and submit the application form, a brief statement (max 400 words) outlining pathology experience and career aims, a full CV, project details and a supporting letter from the project supervisor or Head of Department, and must declare any other funding. Priority is given to early‑career and first‑time applicants; funding is not normally awarded for completed projects or repeatedly to the same department in successive years, and successful applicants must submit an article for ACP News on completion.
