About this program

The Association of Clinical Pathologists (ACP) Student Research Fund 2026 supports undergraduate medical student research in pathology and laboratory medicine, offering nine awards (total fund £22,500) of up to £5,000 for intercalated degrees (maximum £1,000 for bench fees/consumables) and small project grants up to £1,000 (including living expenses up to £150/week for up to six weeks); ACP will not fund non‑consumable equipment, textbooks, or retrospective work. Applications may be submitted at any time and funding is prioritised for intercalated degrees, with successful applicants required to submit an article to ACP News on completion. Applicants must be undergraduate medical students (ideally with ACP member sponsorship) and submit a project description, written supervisor/Head of Department support, a 400‑word statement of interest in pathology, a CV, and declare any other grants. The ACP will not normally award successive students from the same medical school, funding cannot be retrospective, and repeat awards to previously funded individuals are granted only in exceptional circumstances.
