AFS Applied Research Award

About this program

American Foundry Society’s AFS Applied Research Award recognizes principal investigators of AFS‑funded research projects and the collaborating companies that successfully translate research and technical development into practical metalcasting applications, with emphasis on addressing urgent technical problems and rapid shop‑floor implementation. Nominations must be routed through AFS technical committees and officially submitted by the chair of the sponsoring AFS Technical Division using the society’s nomination form, typically based on project steering committee recommendations. Eligible nominees are PIs of AFS‑funded projects and their industry collaborators who demonstrate active application of research on the factory floor. AFS maintains a record of prior winners and their projects.
