About this program

The Association for the History of Glass (AHG) offers grants to support research, educational projects and activities that advance the study of the history of glass (e.g., scientific analysis, excavation/collection reports, conference travel and presentation, outreach, photography/illustration and publication), with £3,000 allocated for 2025/26 and an additional £2,500 to support presenters at the 23rd AIHV Congress; travel awards are usually capped at £500. Eligible applicants include individuals, researchers, museums and community organisations working on archaeological or historical glass, with preference normally given to those based in or connected to the UK or projects concerning glass from the British Isles. Applicants may submit only one application per year, cannot hold two AHG grants simultaneously, and individuals are limited to £1,000 in awards within any five‑year period; applications must include a separate referee’s report and be submitted at least eight weeks before project start (one month for conferences). Successful grantees must provide an illustrated report (up to 700 words) for Glass News, an account of expenditure with receipts within three months of completion, and acknowledge AHG support in any resulting publications.
