AIA Publication Subvention Program

About this program

The Archaeological Institute of America’s von Bothmer Publication Fund provides subventions for new book-length publications in Classical Archaeology, including Greek, Roman, and Etruscan archaeology and art history. Grants average $5,000 and may support production expenses such as illustrations, printing, and binding, with particular interest in first books and final reports of previously unpublished archaeological data. Applicants may be scholars or nonprofit publishers worldwide, but the primary author or principal investigator must be a Professional-level AIA member in good standing; proposals must be submitted by an eligible nonprofit publisher. Complete online applications, including author and publisher components, are due March 1, 2027, and manuscripts must comply with AIA policies on undocumented antiquities.
