AIMS Annual Grants Program — Long- and Short-Term Research Grants (Maghrib)

About this program

The American Institute for Maghrib Studies (AIMS) offers annual grants for U.S. scholars to conduct primary research on North African topics in Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco, or Tunisia. Grants are available for short-term (1-3 months, up to $6,500) and long-term (longer than 3 months, up to $15,500) research, including airfare for non-residents. Applicants must be current AIMS members, U.S. citizens, and eligible categories include graduate students, independent scholars, and faculty in all disciplines. Recipients of AIMS awards in the two previous funding cycles are ineligible, and researchers requiring IRB approval must obtain clearance before departure.
