Alaska Sea Grant State Fellowship Program

About this program

Alaska Sea Grant, a program of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, offers a paid 12-month fellowship providing on-the-job experience in developing and implementing marine, coastal, and watershed resource policies and programs through placements with Alaska-based agencies and nonprofit organizations. Fellows receive a $60,000 stipend, with additional support for fellowship-related domestic travel and training. Eligible applicants are graduate students nearing completion of a relevant degree or individuals who earned a relevant graduate degree within two years of the application deadline and must be in good academic standing. Alaska residents and students graduating from Alaska institutions receive preference, and fellows must be based in Alaska; the 2026 application portal is closed.
