Alfred Einstein Award

About this program

The American Musicological Society (AMS) Alfred Einstein Award recognizes an outstanding musicological article by an early-career scholar and provides a monetary prize, certificate, and recognition at the Society’s annual meeting. Eligible articles must have been published in the preceding calendar year and written in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish. Authors must be AMS members or citizens/permanent residents of the United States or Canada and generally must be within twelve years of completing a PhD; self-nominations and nominations by colleagues or publishers are welcome. Nominations are submitted through the AMS award form by April 15, with eligibility appeals due at least six weeks earlier.
