About this program
The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) administers the Alice T. Schafer Mathematics Prize, established in 1990 and named for AWM founder and former president Alice T. Schafer, to recognize excellence in mathematics by an undergraduate woman. Eligibility is limited to undergraduate women who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in mathematics. Winners are chosen from nominees submitted through AWM’s formal nomination procedure—typically by faculty or mentors—and evaluated by the AWM prize committee; consult AWM for specific nomination requirements and deadlines.
