ALISE Research Grant Competition

About this program

The Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) awards one research grant of up to $5,000 to support projects related to education for library and information science; funds cannot be used for doctoral dissertations and are paid in quarterly installments contingent on written quarterly reports. Proposals are evaluated by the ALISE Research Committee for relevance to LIS education, significance, study design, investigator qualifications, feasibility and completeness, and recipients must acknowledge ALISE support, notify ALISE of other funding, present at the ALISE Annual Conference, and are encouraged to submit results to JELIS. Eligible applicants include individuals or teams (at least one team member must be a personal ALISE member at the deadline); submissions must follow strict format and content rules (maximum 20 double‑spaced pages excluding CVs; ≤200‑word abstract; problem statement and literature review; objectives; project description; research design/methodology/analysis with schedule; detailed budget showing institutional contributions; expected benefits/impact; and vitae) and budgets may not include staff training, general operating/overhead, or other indirect costs.
