Allan Crawford Memorial Travel Award

The New Zealand Society of Animal Production administers the Allan Crawford Memorial Travel Award, an endowed grant that supports travel and the acquisition of technical skills in the wider field of animal genomics (gene discovery, gene function/physiology, and gene inheritance/animal breeding), with emphasis on conference attendance and overseas lab training. Individual awards are generally up to NZ$3,000—or the cost of flights plus conference registration, whichever is smaller—with exceptions possible for technicians and research associates; annual disbursements are set from fund income by the Management Committee. Applicants must be science staff with at least two years' service at a New Zealand research organisation (NZSAP membership is not required), and preference is given to technical staff, technicians and research associates seeking new technical skills or conference attendance. Applications are called via the Society newsletter/website, submitted in the specified format to the Society Secretary by the advertised deadline, are judged by a Selection Panel requiring unanimous approval, and successful recipients must submit a completion report and expense confirmation.
